Admelog: Prescribed To Lower Blood Sugar

Admelog is a human-made form of insulin. This medication lowers the amount of sugar in your blood. Admelog is a rapid-acting insulin that starts working faster than regular insulin. It will not work as long as regular insulin.

Important Safety Information & Side Effects:

  • Admelog contains insulin lispro and other ingredients. Do not use it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
  • You should take Admelog 15 minutes prior to your meal or immediately after your meal.
  • Do not use Admelog if the medication is not clear or if there are particles in it.
  • Serious side effects can occur which may include low blood sugar, serious allergic reactions, and low potassium levels in your blood.
  • Heart failure can occur if you are taking Admelog with TZDs (thiazolidinediones).
  • The most common side effects are low blood sugar and injection site reactions.
  • Talk to your doctor about your medical history to make sure it is safe for you to use.
  • Let your doctor know about any other medications you are taking, as some drug interactions can cause severe adverse side effects.
  • Call your doctor and seek medical attention right away if you begin to have an allergic reaction.

Is there an Admelog generic available?

  • There is currently not a generic version of Admelog available in the United States.
